Opens but doesn't close

My GDO Blaq has been working, mostly. Using the controls in Home Assistant I need to press the open button twice to open but it does that reliably. The status is reported properly to the controls. But when I press close button I will hear it make the warning tones but after that it doesn’t close.

Is there something I missed?

I just have it wired into the motor of my LiftMaster with the two wires. My regular button that came with the unit still works to close it. I saw a mention of a sensor wired into the Blaq but I’m not finding anything specific about it.

Thanks.

Something seems wrong here. It shouldn’t take two clicks to open, and it should also close reliably too.

Please let us know what color learn button is on the back of your motor, and also post a pic of your wall button. Some combinations of older wall buttons on Security+1.0 openers can cause some issues like this.

Do you have a IR beam safety sensor installed? The absence of this may be another reason that it fails to close.

My opener has the yellow learn button. I’ve tried the different security+ versions. I have the sensor installed that is connected to the opener but isn’t connected to the Blaq.

Yellow (round) learn button should be Security+2.0 and it should work reliably on that setting. The IR beam sensor is not supposed to be connected to the blaQ – as long as it’s installed properly into the motor, you’re good.

Please try pressing the resync button on the blaQ’s web page. This forces it to re-sync with the opener motor and can resolve some rare collisions/conflicts with some wall buttons.

Everything is resolved now. I didn’t have a chance to hit the “resync” button but tried an OTA update that ended up cutting off all connection to the unit. After that I did a manual reflash with v1.5.6 via a USB cable with the web page installer. I set it to “security 2.0+” before hooking it back up to the opener and it’s working as expected now, opening with one-click, closing with the same.

Really happy with my blaq. So much better than being in the MyQ environment.

Thank you.
