Konnected GDO blaq b8c744 only showing in closed state

I just purchased this GDO and integrated it to ESPHome on my Home Assistant service (running locally). The door opener will open, but the state is constantly showing closed state and will only close again by issuing the cover_open service. Please help as I’ve been trying to use co-pilot to help and it’s not been successful.

Hi @spacial,
Please give us some more information to help you. What type of garage opener? Color of the learn button? Model or type of wall button? Any logs that you can share?

Just checked the related items and saw someone that had a similar problem. I’m going to try a few more things and I’ll come back to you with my results. Till then, the garage door opener is a lift master with a purple learn button and I wired it into the first red and white terminals where the other wall buttons are located. It seems that the GDO Blaq needs to be mounted on the ceiling directly above where the open garage door would stop ( I did not have it there). I also updated the firmware. Going to now try this later today after I remounted above the garage door and buy some extra wire as the white/white-red wire provided is not long enough the reach. Hopefully it will now detect the door and work

The GDO blaQ does not need to be mounted on the ceiling. It can be mounted anywhere. You may have confused with the mounting requirements of the GDO White which uses a laser sensor to see the door – but the blaQ works differently and does not have a laser sensor.

For a LiftMaster with purple learn button (Security+1.0) make sure to select the Security+1.0 protocol if you have an analog wall button, or the Security+1.0 with smart panel protocol option if you have a digital wall button (one with a motion sensor built-in).

Absolutely this, NEED to select Security+ 1.0 otherwise it won’t behave properly, I had to do this on my other older garage door opener in another location.
