Just switched from Garadget to GDO Blaq and I have a few questions

I just pulled the trigger and switched from Garadget to GDO blaQ, and connected to Hubitat. The entire process for 2 doors probably took an hour tops.

  • During the configuration process, I did not see anyplace where you can set a static IP address for the blaQ. I DHCP reserved on my router, but is a static IP address possible?
  • I can get to the web GUI on both units and ping both, but the Konnected app on Android won’t discover the 2nd unit. The first one took multiple tried and a very long time.
  • I updated firmware to the latest at the install website and a USB cable, so I know they are on the latest versions.
  • Is there really no way to disable the Pre-close Warning function? Not to overly rant about this being a safety feature, but the garage door has obstruction sensors in place, and that right there should be enough. Additionally, using RF remotes or the wall buttons does not trigger the warning. When I was using Garadget, I did the wired wall button workaround simulate a button press instead of using other myQ methods of closing remotely. Is this a limitation with the protocol or is this Konnected deciding for me what is safe and not safe?
  • Is there a way I could make a rule to keep the door opener light on while the door is open?

Hi @nick3, great questions:

  1. In Settings > Network > Advanced > Manual IP
  2. Tap the 3-dots menu on the My Devices screen > Add ESPHome device. Enter the IP address and a name and choose GDO-v2-Q.
  3. The 5-second audible and visual pre-closing warning for “unattended operation” is a legal safety requirement in the U.S.
  4. Yes, you can make the rule trigger on the state of the light turning off, then check if the garage is open, if yes, turn the light back on.

Hope that helps! Welcome to team blaQ!
