Second question, I eventually figured this out by disabling IGMP Snooping per the KB to get my Device discovered in the Android app, but when I added it manually by IP it never gave me settings to configure. I thought it would detect the model and everything if added manually.
(Images deleted since I can only add one.)
Third question I originally added the device via Home Assistant ESP Home, but the firmware options are more limited. I really like how the Android App gives more settings. It would be nice it it provided the yaml file to export and paste in ESP Home, or if there could be more examples of what the app creates in the yaml file, on the KB.
I noticed large opening counts on both of our doors as well (1000+, 6000+). The openers where there when we bought the house so I’m assuming they keep track of total counts from when they’re originally installed.
The opening counts is read directly from the garage opener and is the number of times that the garage opener has opened in its lifetime (even before you installed the blaQ).
It looks like the device is added to the app without a device model, so it’s not pulling in any configuration options. Tap on “Forget device” and then re-add it with the correct model and then you should be able to customize all the options … or just let it discover automatically on the network.
When you use the Konnected app to customize the firmware setting and options, we manage the YAML config file and firmware builds for you, and the app lets you directly update the firmware wirelessly. In general, you should choose one or the other – either manage your own firmware via ESPHome dashboard, or let Konnected manage if for you via the Konnected App.
Ohhh that makes sense. I thought it was for the blaQ unit.
I didn’t realize the blaQ could get that sort of data from the GDO. MyQ recently added an update that shows which remote opened the door - is that something the blaQ can get in the future?
This didn’t work from me still, even when I selected it in the beginning, but it works now after disabling IGMP Snooping, and auto-discovery works.
Yeah, I wanted to do it with ESPHome in HA, but I didn’t find enough information on how to disable the Web UI or other things I wanted to do. The app was more convenient this way.
