BlaQ keeps losing connection

I just recently got a BlaQ and installed it a couple of days ago. I have done the firmware upgrade(s). The current setup is:

  1. ESPHome version: 2025.11.2
  2. Konnected project version: 1.5.5.6
  3. Manufacturing batch: 2509
  4. Liftmaster 87504 (with the yellow learn button)

I will be using Hubitat, but haven’t got that far yet. At the moment I am just relying on the Konnected app.

The device keeps going “offline”. I can bring up the Settings, but when I click on ‘Open Web Page’ it does not load. I have quit and restarted the Konnected app, but that does not re-establish the connection. Toggling the power to the unit gets the device back online only to have it go offline in a few hours. I have an Eero unit in the garage and the signal strength is excellent. When the web page is working it says 100%.

Regarding bullet #2, initially I had not realized that the last digit in the project version is how many times the firmware has been flashed. So in the initial setup, after a couple of valid updates, I was just flashing the same thing over, I guess.

Any ideas why I keep losing connectivity to the unit and any suggestions on what settings I should look for?

Thank you!

Soon after I posted this, I came across a post that mentioned that a newer ESPHome version: 2025.12.0 is available. Assuming that this version fixes some of the issues I am running into, can you please tell me how I would go about installing this update? I presume that updating this is not the same as updating the Konnected project version? Can it be downloaded and installed wirelessly by just using my mobile phone and the Konnected app?

When I looked at some of your docs, it seemed like I would need to download this on a computer and connect the two using a USB data cable. I would really like to avoid the latter as that means removing the unit from the garage to update it or climbing up with a laptop in hand.

My apologies if these are very “newbie” questions!

Thanks,

If you haven’t connected Hubitat yet, then the device will reboot itself every 15 minutes because no clients are connected to the API. This might be what you’re seeing about going offline. This behavior is by design in case your local hub/platform disconnects, the periodic reboot is done to help it re-discover and re-connect.

I don’t think ESPHome 2025.12.0 is out quite yet. Usually they release around the middle of the month, so 2025.12 will come out in mid-December.

The easiest/best way to update the firmware is to just re-build another version and update via the Konnected app. Our cloud build service periodically pulls the latest ESPHome release and Konnected firmware, so it’s always up to date.

Thank you, Nate! That really helps. I will work on getting the Hubitat setup completed.
