Firmware updates don’t seem to be working anymore. I was able to update the firmware this morning. I disabled Local Native API and save and continue. I get the message “The was a problem preparing your firmware update. Continue editing and try again“. I re-selected Local Native API and still no luck. I am trying to get the gdo to work with Smartthings. I can open the door from the konnected app and from Smartthings. But in the Konnected APP → Webpage I can only open / close using the “Garage Door” controls by pressing the down arrow. This work for both open and close. In smartthings the door always shows as open even though the door opens or closes when the smartthings door button is press. The opener is a Chamberlain 41DB000-2. It gets detected as security+1.0. I can control the light on/off properly. I have obstruction sensors (original equipment) connected to the opener. My device shows the yellow triangle with exclamation. Smartthings will open and close but the “Hardware problem” shows detected with a red bar. Any advice?
Hi @Chris_B, usually when there’s a “problem preparing firmware update” that’s a problem on our side. I will look into this for you shortly. Please just leave it alone for now.
I’ve just pushed a fix for this. It should begin working again shortly.
The problem was related to today’s release of ESPHome version 2026.1 which introduced a small breaking change. Same issue described here.
Thanks Nate. I tried twice and I’m still getting the error “There was a problem preparing your firmware update. Continue editing and try again“. I’ll give it another try tomorrow.
There are a couple other breaking changes that I didn’t catch initially, also related to ESPHome 2026.1 that dropped today. I’m working through them now.
Try again tomorrow sounds good.
It worked. I was able to update the firmware. This firmware update was an attempt to fix a problem where the door doesn’t seem to be getting the open/close status. I had read that disabling Local Native API might fix the interface to Smartthings. I can open and close the door both from the Konnected webpage and from the device on Smartthings. But on the Konnected webpage interface only the down arrow works for opening and closing the door. On smartthings the door status is always open but hitting the button does open and close the door. Again the opener is a Chamberlain 41DB000-2. It gets detected as security+1.0. It seems it isn’t getting sensor updates. But they work as expected from the button and if I block the beam the door stops. konnected app shows door with yellow triangle and smartthings indicates hardware problem. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advance.
@Chris_B What type of wall button do you have?
Yes, the Chamberlain 41DB000-2 is a Security+1.0 opener. If your wall button is the digital kind (typically with a motion sensor and learn/lock buttons) then you should set the protocol setting on the blaQ’s web page to “Security+1.0 with smart panel”.
The Hardware Problem sensor in the SmartThings interface is the IR beam obstruction sensor. SmartThings doesn’t have a device type specifically for obstruction sensor, so this was the closest match, so I understand why it’s confusing.
