Is it possible to use Blaq garage door opener with SmartThings without using Konnected cloud? After the myQ debacle, there’s zero chance I’ll buy another product that is dependent on the benevolence of some company to keep their middleman cloud service running for my device to keep working.
Yes, almost.
Our Matter (experimental) firmware will work with SmartThings locally, but it’s not quite ready for prime time yet. You can try the experimental beta and it should work for basic open/close, although the rest of the GDO blaQ features are missing.
We expect Matter to improve over time as the specification matures.
Is the matter firmware able to tell if the door is currently open or closed? Basic open/close is plenty for me, assuming that also includes the current status. And I have no issues with experimental/beta firmware/software.
