Which is the preferred (most reliable) method for HomeKit integration? Matter or HomeBridge plugin?
If you already have/use HomeBridge, I would go with the HomeBridge plugin developed by Kyle Boyer: GitHub - KyleBoyer/homebridge-blaq: Homebridge plugin to control garage doors with Konnected's GDO BlaQ
The Matter firmware has been reliable, but itâs missing a lot of features that the fully supported integrations have. I think after Matter v1.5 is rolled out weâll be able to better support the GDO blaQ with Matter.
Thereâs also this new attempt at a native homekit firmware for the GDO blaQ, developed by a community developer named Brandon:
Right now, very experimental, but I would love to get a few people trying it
I get it into HomeKit via the HomeKit Bridge integration in Home Assistant and it works perfectly.
All you need to make sure to do in Home Assistant, is on the âGarage Door Openerâ entity in Home Assistant, change the âShow Asâ setting to⌠âGarage Doorâ.
After that, itâs just perfect, Siri works perfectly âHey Siri, open the garage doorâ etc.
