I have a few buttons that open the GD to a set height, so I can let my cats out without keeping the entire garage door open. After the latest firmware update (downloaded from git and manually flashed) they open the garage fully then close it immediately. I’ll try resetting the timing.
Ok I used the web panel to reset the door timings. Now when I move the door (similarly to before resting timings) using my HA button, the assumed position scales improperly. When it’s at the %30 open position, it thinks it’s only 7% or so. By the time it fully opens, it doesn’t even register at %30. It immediately fully closes after that.
I can “start and stop” in the web panel manually, and it will never register anything but 0% open.
I tried doing the learn procedure from the Web panel and the HA card I setup for the EspHome device. After doing it in the HA card, the HA integration no longer controls any functionality of the door.
I manually set it to about %17 open using the “↑” then “□” buttons in the web panel, and this is what the output was in the panel:
Door state: Closed, position: 0%

I still can not get the app to register the device in a way that can control it. I can add it manually, but that’s the extent of it.
I updated to latest firmware manually via downloading from git then flashing via the web panel.
This used to work perfectly in HA. Slowly the timing crept and my “open to %20 from close” became close to %37 for the same physical location.
Can anyone shed insight? I’m going to try fully reflashing it later. I feel like I’d wasted an inordinate amount of time during my initial setup and paid my dues.
Security+1.0 after auto detection.
The move to position capability and the percentage open is determined exclusively by timing how long it takes for the garage door to open and close, and it approximates the % open by measuring the time elapsed since triggering.
Tap the Reset door timings button on the GDO blaQ web page to clear out the stored timings. The blaQ will reboot, and when it comes back online, fully open then close the garage once without stopping. This will capture the new open and closing time and save it to the device.
After that you should have better results using the move to position feature. Let me know how that works.
Thank you for this direct and thorough answer. I was able to navigate the simple reset procedure now that I understood that the unit would actually reset, then not prompt the user in initiating a complete cycle.
Is there a way to arbitrarily tweak those timings?
