Konnected Alarm Panel (Wi-Fi) - connected to four door/window sensors, one motion sensor, and an alarm siren
Konnected GDO blaq Garage opener
Both are managed by Home Assistant (using Alarmo for the alarm system) and exposed to HomeKit.
Here is the odd behavior: when my alarm system is “Armed” (e.g. away), the Garage Door Opener appears as “Door Closing” in the Home app on my iPhone. In both the HA and Konnected apps, and the GDO management webpage, the door shows as closed. The garage door was closed prior to arming the system, it was not opened afterward - and, to my knowledge, it did not open while the system was armed.
1: Has anyone else seen this odd behavior?
2: Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve it?
My guess is this is a Home Assistant issue, but I’m hoping the user group here will have some collective wisdom to solve the issue.
I have the GDO white on Home Assistant and shared to the Home app via the HomeKit Bridge and haven’t seen that issue. I did have it saying “Door Closing” this week however in Home Assistant it showed open even though the door was closed. That turned out to be a spider web that I had to clear then it went back to working as expected. I have a wired contact sensor on the door too and would love to tell the GDO to ignore the optical sensor completely to avoid spider web issues in the future but not sure how to disable the optical sensor.
In the Konnected app, tap Settings then Garage Open/Close Detection to select the detection method to Wired. Once you update the settings, make sure to Save & Continue and follow the steps to update the firmware with the new settings.
I finally found the device history in Home Assistant and the “Door closing” status is visible in Home Assistant natively - so it’s not a HomeKit issue. HomeKit is just reporting what Home Assistant tells it.
I found the “Door closing” status reported even when the alarm panel is disarmed, so it’s not a weird interaction with the alarm panel. In fact, that status was reported when I was at home, security disarmed, about 20 feet from the garage. The garage door definitely did not open and could not have been in a closing state.
I decided to flash the GDO’s firmware (was on 1.0.0) and rebuild Home Assistant to get a clean docker image and plugin updates that my old image did not support. I’ll report back when I have a few days of data. So far (about 18 hours), no spurious reports of “door closing.”
Updating firmware and rebuilding my Home Assistant setup seems to have resolved the issue. After a week, the errant “door closing” status has not appeared.
