Relay to Zone instead of keyswitch to trigger alarm?

For: On the web page there are some sensors shown as ON and others as OFF but they do not change although my old system is detecting motion.

Do they all go OFF in webpage when you disconnect Konnected from old system. If thats what happens, it mean its getting something, and its about some setting or amount of voltage - becasue if voltage coming to Konnected interface board is less than some particular threshold, it will not detect it. And thats where resistors come into picture and we dont want to remove them as thats your old setup and from there arises the question whether Konnected can work with your system or not.

Got it. See if it works - great. if it does not - you tried your best.

Do you mean disconnecting the ribbon cable or other connections?

Do you mean through the zone wires or through the power wires?

I have connected the screw terminals of the alarm panel to the 12V power of the old system. Apart from that the alarm panel is also powered by poe. The power terminals of the interface boards are wired to the power terminals of the alarm panel.

Disconnecting connections between Konnected interface and old board. Because then everything that is not set up as inverted should be ON (may be off but same value) . But if values change after connecting wires then it means that connection is there.

I did not use POE as I read somewhere that there were issues. I used power adapter and either wifi or simple ethernet.
Konnected interface works because you have connected single zone wires to Konnected module and you are also providing common voltage / gnd from old panel to Konnected interface separately. So difference of voltage between them is what makes Konnected know if door opened or motion was detected.

This link should help: Wiring and Programming Guide: Wiring Zones In-Parallel with a Traditional Alarm Panel
You may look at this diagram (https://support.konnected.io/hs-fs/hubfs/Copy%20of%20New%20Konnected%20Interface%20Module%20with%20Alarm%20Panel%20Pro%20v2.svg.png?width=688&height=548&name=Copy%20of%20New%20Konnected%20Interface%20Module%20with%20Alarm%20Panel%20Pro%20v2.svg.png)

This is just link to image on same page. I think you might need to put register as shown in diagram because your old board has it but its not there in Konnected circuit so it might be causing issue. I did not need it as my old board is newer.

At one point I had to use my multimeter to see what was voltage difference between COm and Zone if I remember correctly. You may need to do it with and without resistor (not sure)

Hi,

apparently some kind of miracle has occured.

Today I inspected the boards again and checked the voltages at the power connectors.

It was between 12 and 13 V as expected. The voltage between zones and ground was between 6 and 7 V.

Then I disconnected a zone wire from the interface panel (I have plugged two sets of jumper wires together because a single cable would have been too short, so I can disconnect the zones from the interface panels without turning a screw). The led of the disconnected zone changed its state and again as I plugged in the wire again. And after reconnecting the wire I recognized that not all leds were in the same state. So I turned the screws again and managed to make them all just turn on. And they react to the motion now.

I do not have any explanation for this, I did not change anything in the entire system since yesterday.

Now I can try to set up the rest (keyswitch a. s. o.).

Kind regards

Alex

See… next day magic. thats why I took a small win everyday and came back the next day. I think now you are good to go.

Best of luck!

Quick Question: What hardware are you using for Home Assistant? Raspberry pi or something else and version. From what I read - Home Assistant software needs to be installed on something.

Hi, I bought a used Fujitsu Futro S720 thin client with a 128 GB SSD as dedicated hardware on which I only run Home Assistant OS. You could also use a Raspberry Pi but I can see no benefits. You can also buy recommended hardware from homeassistant.io directly Installation - Home Assistant
You can also run Home Assistant via Docker or Proxmox on other hardware. Of course it should run 24/7 to make real sense.
I can recommend the YouTube channel simon42 which covers many home assistant related topics and tutorials very well. It is in German but you can use auto translate function.

I would be glad if I can help you with further questions. There is also a big community forum in English.

Have fun!

Thanks. I will probably try it on PI as I have that extra lying around next time I get chance.

You’re welcome. Please make sure you use an ssd and not an sd because this will not work for long.
If you like home assistant you can change to a better hardware later and simply load a backup of the entire system. I have been using it for about two years now and cannot imagine living without it anymore. It is very powerful and universal.
For your alarm system you could try the alarmo integration and alarmo dashboard card.

Kind regards
Alex

I have my Vista 20P set up with the interface boards same as you and use 1 of my zones in the Vista panel to turn the siren on or off remotely. I programed that zone as a 24 hour zone, that way you can trigger your siren thru the relay weather the panel is armed or not

Hi, thank you, I will consider that, my system can also configure 24h zones. Did you use the Alarm1 output of the Konnected Alarm Panel Pro as a momentary button?

Yes. I use Hubitat and set up a momentary switch the timings can be set on. Also use a keyswitch to arm-disarm. I dont use arm home but feel I could as all you have to do is open it longer than 1 second on my panel.
