Bosch Solution 862 System and Konnected INTERFACE kit

I have a Bosch alarm system, its pretty old 15+ years, over the years it's been upgraded to support cellular monitoring etc, and Im keen to keep the system as I haven't found a true WAF replacement for the codepad etc. that still supports monitoring here in NZ.

So I've been looking at the Konnected INTERFACE kit to upgrade the system to support some more smarts via HomeAssistant, but need to check a few things.

1. The system has 4 Zone connectors but they support 2 zones each using different resistors 3K3 for one zone and 6K8 for the other zone (see below). Can the konnected solution support this, would I connect two wires from the single zone connector on the bosch side to two separate zones on the konnected side and adjust each konnected zone to the correct resistance?

2. I'm trying to decode my alarm manuals (see attached) to understand if I can somehow monitor the armed state of the alarm dont really care about activated state as this could be triggered in hA based on armed state and the zones. Ive looked at the system and I can see wires into both Out 1 and Out 2. I believe Out 1 is the siren and Out 2 is for the smoke detector

I've attached the two manuals I've been working from to start to understand my system.

Hi Owen - i have similar request with utilising a Solutions 862 and Kconnected INTERFACE. Did you manage to get any further with this?

Hey,

So Ive started my Konnected Interface install against my Bosch 880 system (without monitoring of the specific zones due to the SPLIT ZONING feature my alarm is using), and so far so good. I have managed to switch a spare zone to be a momentary switch and have it arm and disarm the system.

However I am now struggling to work out how to monitor the status of the system using the different OUTPUTS. My old Horn and Strobe no longer work and TBH I don’t like bothering neighbours with my alarm so have dropped them from the system freeing up Output 1 and the Strobe outputs. Nothing was ever plugged into Output 2 (as I don’t have a wired smoke alarm).

However I cant seem to figure out the correct config in the alarm system to get the Konnected.io zones to pickup status changes, however I think its prob. something to do with the config or me.

The Piezo Siren output works perfectly fine, I can see the voltage change when the unit has been trigged (had to remove the siren temporary as wife was getting very annoyed and me very deaf), however when I tried to plug a wire between N/O and one of the zones on the Konnected.IO the zone state wouldn’t change no matter what I adjusted the POT to.. either the led for the zone would stay on or off… but when the siren fired it would not turn off or on.

Based on the document the siren is set to the following:

image

Event Type = 1-15 = Sirens Running

Polarity = 1 = N/O, going Low

image

I know the Event Types I need to set each OUTPUT to but I’m not sure what Polarity setting I should used. I’m guessing once I have the output configured correctly I can simply plug a wire between OUT1, OUT2 or STR and a free zone on the Konnected.io… and then try and set the POT correctly.

I have tried setting OUT1 to the same settings as the Relay (Siren output) but again the Konnected.io interface zone light wouldn’t change when the siren was activated. I tried changing the polarity to 8 (Normally Low, Going Open) but same problem.

Any suggestions on what I need to do, or ways I can troubleshoot this, I have also attached the full manual if that helps... cause right now Im at a loss of what to do

Regards

Owen

P.S. Individual zone monitoring would have been nice, but I couldn’t get it working when I tried it… I plugged Z1 into Zone 1 on the Konnected.IO however it would only detect changes when ZONE 5 trigged, it would never pickup a ZONE 1 trigger… so I dropped it… as what Im really after is just a simple arm/disarm capability with the ability to track the ARMED status and TRIGGERED status so I can do some simple automations in Home Assistant.

Note I should have prob. mentioned I have wired the power for the konnected.io interface into the GND and +12V used to Power External Equipment

Hey thanks for the update Owen. I have only just ordered my Konnected Interface alarm so will let you know how I get on. Cheers Steve

Hopefully it will arrive next week 

Hi Guys,

Did any of you get this working?

I've got a 862 that has never worked since I've been here and am currently looking at options to upgrade.

Konnected seems like quite an elegant solution, so hoping its as easy as the tutorials have indicated, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Cheers

Don

Hey guys,

I am in the same boat with a Bosch Alarm system, wanting to fit a Konnected Interface. (It is being shipped as wel speak, but I am researching now so I'll know what to do with it once it gets here)

Owen, you initially asked a question about having 2 zones per physical inputs. (using 2 different resistors). Did you get that working? My 4 physical zones are being used (Z1 and Z2 for PIRs, Z7 and Z8 for Tamper) and ideally I wouldn't mess with that. Planning on adding my keyswitch to zone 5 or 6, using a different resistor and owuld be great to be able to validate this idea.

As for monitoring  the state, I am expecting the polarity setting to be an issue as I'm not sure I understand what it's about.. So if you have any word of wisdom there, I'm all hears..

I'll update this if and when I get my system up and running.

Cheers

I managed to get some aspects working. The key switch to arm and disarm the system works fine. But I couldn’t get it to monitor the zones or status of the system.

I actually have decided to replace my whole system with an Arrow Head alarm product with a serial interface that I will use with node-red to monitor the system, or get the ip board and use their mobile app (however I prefer to integrate directly with node-red and HA).

I have an old 3G-IP-Module that is connected to my Bosch system which I am thinking of using in our Bach up north to monitor that system it over the internet using emails (which I can again integrate with HA).

The Konnected.io product is awesome and their service excellent however in this instance for me I couldn’t get it working with my system and its specific setup…

I would be interest to see how you get on, I really just wanted to be able to monitor the system for armed / triggered state and Arm/disarm the system… I don’t think the dual zone setup of the Bosch system will let you easily monitor the individual zones.

Hi Owen,

Thanks for putting in a reply.

I was really hoping you got it working!

Regarding the dual zones, I am really not fussed about being to monitor both separately in Konnected but since the PIRs are plugged in to Z1 and Z2 respectively with nothing else connected, I should be good.

Now, I am really hoping I can use a zone as a dual zone to put in my keyswitch, otherwise, I'll have to use one of my tamper switch which would be not great.

As for monitoring the arming and trigger states, I really hope I can get this to work. With the number of options available, there's bound to be one that works!

I'm really keen to get this working as it would be a great addition to my Smart Home...

Anyway, I have to wait for my Konnected to turn up anyway..

Hello, I received my Konnected Interface today. I managed to power it up, hook it up to the wifi and monitor my two Zones. So far so good.

Now running into issues trying to get the monitoring state working... Whatever I do, I can't get the Light on the Konnected to show up for that Zone where I plugged my programmable output. No light at all...

Owen, did you manage to get some light there?

Progress Update: I have somehow managed to set up the monitoring of the Arm State as well as the Alarm State and also the Keyswitch to arm/disarm the alarm.

Thesew 3 things tick all the boxes for me and I am very happy. Double thumbs up for Konnected Interface.

Happy to anser any question if someone else is struggling with such install.

Cheers

Hi Guillaume,

I also have a Bosch system, specifically the Solution 16+.

I have been able to successfully monitor all my zones and add a keyswitch to arm/disarm.

I am stuck on how to monitor arm/disarm status and alarm status. I only have 1 output free and I am unsure of how to program it. I have tried different settings for events and polarity. Can you please give me an idea of what you did for programming and wiring?

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,

I'll have to check my notes to confirm what I programmed the Panel to.

If you only have one free output you might only be able to monitor one of the states (arm/disarm or alarm).

My Output 2 was free so I used this and realised that my "STR" (stands for Strobe) was also free (not sure why it hasn't been wired up) so I used that too.

I'll check tonight and give you the values I used for the programming.

Cheers

Hi Guillaume,

Last night I was able to work out how to monitor the alarm status, I connected the pin to the 'N/0' connector on my alarm panel which is the same place the internal siren connects to. This sends a value when the alarm goes off.

Now the last part to do is programming an Output to monitor arm/disarm status. I've tried many different values but I am unsure of event type, polarity etc. Would be keen to see what you set yours to.

OK, for the Alarm State:

I have (from 380 to 385): 1 15 1 0 0 0

Which means:

- 1,15 : Sirens Running

- 1: Normally Open, Going Low

For the Arm State, I have: (from 374 to 379): 0 2 1 2 0 1

Which means:

- 0, 2 : System Disarmed

- 1: Normally Open, Going Low

- 2,0,1 I don't think that matters.

Then you may have to adjust your potentiometers to make it work.

I hope that helps.

Thank you!
Do you get a light on your connected board for the armed status? My light is always on but may need tuning.

Adam,

How did you go with the monitoring of armed status? I'm helping my friend with the Konnected installation for this Bosch 16 plus. I used Output 1 with the following settings

Event Type : 22

Event Assignment : 0

Output Polarity : 0

But the status light is always ON and doesn't go off even after tuning. Did you have any luck yet?

Hey Jagan,
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll have time tomorrow to try that. I believe I have used that event before but I’m thinking my polarity and event assignment were wrong. I’m currently trying output 3. Did you have to adjust the potentiometer on the connected board?

Hi Jagan, Unfortunately can not get this to work even using all of your settings. I'm just getting no feed of signal when I arm/disarm. I am trying to program on Output 3.
