Panel disconnects from network when Ethernet and power adapter are connected

I’m experiencing an issue where, when I connect the power adapter to the panel, the network connection is interrupted (connected via Ethernet).

I am a new user, so still learning the panel and the feature set. System currently has three door sensors, two glass break sensors (from 1989), and an outdoor siren mounted behind a crawlspace vent. The siren is a Moose MPI-38, and according to the spec sheet I was able to locate online, it draws .8 amps at 6V and 1.6 amps at 12V. Sort of power hungry, so I think I need the power adapter in addition to PoE. As it’s connected now, with power adapter, I can make the siren sound via SmartThings, but it glitches the app, never shows as powered on, sounds for anywhere between 10 and 30 seconds, and then I think the board resets.

Would be grateful for any direction here! Entirely open to replacing the siren and/the glass break sensors if necessary.

Plugging in the power adapter shouldn’t affect the Ethernet connection. What you’re describing sounds odd and unexpected. Do you still see the green LED on the Ethernet port?

When I plug in the power adapter, there is no activity on the Ethernet port, even after waiting a few minutes. If I unplug the power adapter, the lights begin to flash again around the Ethernet port.

Can you try moving it to an un-powered Ethernet port on your switch/router? Maybe there’s some odd interaction between the PoE circuit. Is your switch/router certified for PoE+ (802.3at)?
