Yes. The upcoming firmware update is needed to fix it. I think it should work on both the 888LM and 889LM after the update.
I have completed testing of some updates to the firmware that are now pushed and should resolve the issues with the 888LM and 889LM.
Do your changes also resolve the issue with the garage door opening/closing on every restart with Security 1+ openers?
Also, where did you push the changes? https://github.com/konnected-io/konnected-esphome
?
A firmware update is now ready that we expect should fix this issue!
The update GDO blaQ project version number is 1.1.0 and was released in release 2024.5.4. There are also some changes to gdolib included in this.
There are three ways to update:
-
Update over-the-air via the Konnected App. Go to Settings > Save & continue > Build now. Then wait a few minutes for your firmware to complete and tap Update Now to update wirelessly.
-
Physically re-flash the device with a USB cable at install.konnected.io
-
Users of ESPHome dashboard can update automatically via ESPHome dashboard.
After installing the update, the GDO blaQ should reboot and attempt to sync with the garage opener. If you have problems still, try changing the Security+ protocol selector to auto (via the deviceās built-in web page).
Please let us know if this fixes the problem!
I tried several times to update the firmware using the Konnected app. I get:
There was a problem preparing your firmware update. Continue editing and try again.
each time.
@MarkW please forward me the detailed error from your email
@MarkW I think it was an issue related to the way ESPHome caches external component dependencies. It was pulling an older version of the code. Fixed now. Please retry the build and let me know.
Sadly I think that the door may still be getting triggered to open/close on restart. Trying to narrow this down still.
Thanks for the confirmation. That is what Iām seeing.
Interestingly, it does not toggle the cover when restarting after flashing new firmware, but does toggle the cover when explicitly restarted.
To be clear, I do not have one of the problematic wall buttons.
Yes I noticed this behavior as well, I think it might be something to do with ESPHomeās restart procedure but I havenāt got that far yet.
I have updated the firmware via the app to 1.1.0 and so far I am still getting the random garage door opening and closings.
I had replaced my wall remote with the 889LM already.
I tried changing the Security+ Protocol to auto and after awhile it changed from auto to security+1.0, which surprised me as I think it is supposed to be security+2.0 with the 889LM.
While I am still getting some random activity (openings and closings) the Homekit integration seems to be working reasonably consistently now and I can open and close the door with Homekit.
I upgraded. I now have ESPhome 2024.5.0b4 and 1.1.0.3 firmware.
When I connect it to my purple garage door, the 888LM flashes yellow and red slow, then beeps then goes out and the flashes yellow and red slow and repeats.
On the bright side, the door doesnāt open and close randomly!
Am I on the right version of things?
Thanks.
I saw this mentioned before. Iām not sure this is right. How could changing the wall panel change the security inside the opener?
Not sure. I was thinking that the button is acting as a bridge (with MyQ support) to the older opener. The security of the button could be 2.0 and that is what the blaQ is interacting with (not the opener directly).
Iām no expert. But Amazon has knock-off buttons that look like the regular LiftMaster wall panel (not MyQ) that work with 1.0 openers. (Light and lock buttons)
The purple button openers are 1.0. Just seems like if the 889LM changed this there would be pandemonium.
āI have a purple button, but I have security 2.0.ā
But, this is just me guessing.
The 888LM and 889LM are security+ V1 devices. If home assistant is reporting v2 that will be what is causing the door to trigger, set it to auto or v1 and that should stop.
I didnāt update again and got 1.0.3.2. When I first hooked it up, tondidnthe flashy thing and opened and closed the door. But then I unplugged power from the blaq and it went to solid yellow. Then unplugged it back in and it all seems to be working now. Iāll keep watching it.
Okay, I updated the firmware on my three blaQs and installed the first one. It appears to be working. Iāll try the other two later.
I unplugged everything and waited 30 minutes. When I plugged everything back in it has been working.
