I have 2 identical Liftmaster 3585S (purple button, Security+ 1.0) openers with 398LM wall switches. I installed GDO blaQs on each one. First works as expected and reports correct % open or closed. The second one is able to open or close the door, but % open or closed is not reported and it only reports opening or closing. If I disconnect the wall swiwtch then the second one starts reporting correct % open/closed and correct status when fully open or closed.
Other info: The wall switch for the first one no longer illuminates and motion sensor doesn’t work. This seems to be expected behavior per another thread and could be fixed by switching to a newer wall switch. The wall switch for the second one remains illuminated and the motion sensor continues to work when connected to the opener.
Almost certainly going to be the age of the wall control. Mine was basically 20 years old and prior to even installing the blaQ, the motion sensor on it would randomly just do nothing at all.
Once I installed the blaQ, every now and then it would report the garage door opening and then immediately closing, even though the garage door never moved.
I ultimately replaced it with a brand new Liftmaster 889LMMC (I too am on an old Security+ 1.0 opener) and every single problem I had went away.
This is it! I meant to return and report that replacing the wall controllers with LM889LMs fixed the problems I was having. It was also important to power cycle each blaQ to ensure the mode changed to Security +1.0 with Smart Panel. Been working well for the past week, fingers crossed it will continue.
