I’m considering getting the blaQ, but I’m intrigued by the “disco” option on the ratgdo product line. Since the “white” version of Konnected GDO controller has the distance-measuring laser feature, I wonder whether this could be somehow added to the blaQ to detect a vehicle under the opener when the door is closed.
I also like the idea of projecting a laser-pointer red dot to help know how far to drive into the garage before stopping. Yes, I’ve used tennis balls on strings in the past, but now my wife and I are in the habit of backing into the garage. That makes the tennis ball approach somewhat harder to use. But a laser dot projected onto the hood, that would appear after backing in the correct distance (aligned with some physical feature on the hood, like the rear edge just before the wiper gap), might be just the ticket. I guess I could rig up a pointer laser myself, and perhaps power it via the auxiliary power output on the blaQ. But it would be nice for the laser pointer to be turned on and off automatically when needed.
Difficult to find a location for the laser on a back in maneuver. Would probably need to be a separate device attached to the door which will above your hood. Could work but likely need to be battery powered. I use both white and black at my home and love them. I also have a small inexpensive laser protector on the ceiling that just runs 24x7 for drive in parking.
