Customize Zone Inputs on Konnected Alarm Panels

Hello, I have had a couple of Konnected alarm panels on Smartthings for many years. Recently, I updated the firmware to run ESPhome on Home Assistant. Everything worked well, except I am not able to change zone type for a few things that are not detected automatically. I have one momentary switch for a garage door opener relay that I need to customize. Similarly, I have a temperature and humidity sensor that is not correctly recognized.

I have tried the Konnected app on iOS and Android phones, but it never lets me save the configuration. (I can see the screen just briefly, and it goes away.) I assume that instead of getting the config emailed to me, I can edit it myself. I am still learning how Home Assistant and ESPhome work, but I don’t know where to edit and where I can see some example code.

Anyone that can give me a few pointers please?

Hi @mjohansson, I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble saving the configuration in our app.

Could you provide me with some more details of your process and screenshots of the screens where you are having issues so I can look in to what might be failing?

Thanks,
Connor Martin

Hi @Connor_Martin , when it comes to the app I am not able to capture a screenshot because the screen/page disappears so quickly, but let me explain. I go into the “Device Settings” screen for one of the boards, then click “Get Started”. The screen that appears is the “Firmware Settings & Customization” screen. (This is the screen the app will not show again to save my changes). My next step is to click “Setup Zones”. I do the work in the “Zone Settings” screen, but when clicking on the back arrow, it takes me straight back to “Device Settings” and the “Get Started” button. I have tried on my iPhone and my Android phone.

Anyway, is it correct to assume I can find some yaml examples and edit config files somewhere for each board or zone?

@mjohansson Could you check what App Version you’re on? Go to the “About” page and near the bottom it will say “App Version” with a version number.

@Connor_Martin - the app version is 1.4.8 (IOS).

@Connor_Martin I have the exact same issue. Been emailing Konnected about it for a few months and this has not been resolved (many screenshots and back and forth later).
I’m on the latest app.
It’s an obvious bug.

Hi @DangerDave, I’m sorry this issue has resurfaced for you and I’m working to get it resolved. Could you please share the current Konnected Project Version of your device(s) with me?

@Connor_Martin and I looked into this more and I’m pretty sure I found the problem. There was a bug on our end affecting devices that were originally on the original firmware and migrated to the newer firmware on ESPHome. our cloud was not recognizing them properly and that’s why the settings were not saving.

I’ve deployed a fix already. You will need to do the process one more time but it should work now.

Thanks, @nate and @Connor_Martin. I checked the app briefly and can confirm that the screen to save my changes now appears correctly. I will fully test it later this week. Thanks again, and I hope it works for you too @DangerDave

I tried to upgrade an older wifi alarm panel to the ESPHome firmware. I got the board to connect to my wifi but could not get past the initial “Let’s configure all the things!” page in the Konnected App. Clicking the “Agree & Continue” button does not do anything. I’m using app version 1.6.1 on iOS. The alarm panel is on ESPHome version 2024.12.1 with Konnected project version 1.1.2. I had to “deregister” the board from the Konnected cloud inorder to click the “Agree & Continue” button and configure the zones and update the firmware. All of my boards now appear to not be registered to the Konnected cloud. Is there a way to add them back? @nate @Connor_Martin

@M3_622 Our 6-zone Alarm Panels do not support Konnected Cloud via the ESPHome firmware, so no unfortunately it is not possible to add them back to Konnected cloud when using the newer firmware platform.

If you need to use our SmartThings or Alexa integration (via Konnected cloud) on the 6-zone WiFi-only boards, you’ll have to go back to the original Konnected (nodeMCU) firmware.

The Alarm Panel Pro and our GDO products support Konnected Cloud on the ESPHome firmware. This is a limitation of the older ESP8266 chip on the 6-zone panels – it doesn’t have the ability to securely authenticate with our cloud service via ESPHome.
