Cannot to discover konnected boards using Hubitat

Hello; I am setting up a new Hubitat C8. The problem I am having is that the Hubitat (connected to my Netgear via Ethernet) is unable to discover my two connected boards which are using Wi-Fi. In the Hubitat logs I see “Discovering Konnected devices on the network via SSDP”, but they never appear. Any thoughts on where to start with debugging?

Thank you!

Which Konnected boards are you using?

I would start with the basics …
Are the Konnected boards in the Konnected app and do they show as “online”?
Check the status page and ensure they are on the same network as the Hubitat and that the WiFi strength is “good” … above 50%.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Signal strength is fine. Again, I am able to connect via WIFI, not via Ethernet. I have tried many, many troubleshooting steps to no avail. :frowning:

Hello,
I think your Hubitat C8 not discovering your Wi-Fi devices, make sure both are on the same network and restart your router and Hubitat. Check that SSDP is enabled on your router and disable any firewall settings that might block SSDP traffic. Your Wi-Fi devices are powered on and connected to the network. You have to update the firmware on both your Hubitat and router.

Thanks for that reply - I have checked, double-checked, and triple-checked all of the suggestions you mentioned: SSDP, updates, firewalls, etc. Also spent a lot of time with the documentation for my Netgear C7000v2 Wi-Fi router. Still no success. I am running the simplest (pretty much out-of-the-box) home network, it is baffling!

Ditch Hubitat. It’s a terrible (unethical) company and a bad solution.

Hi User145 - curious statement. What makes you say that? Just curious to understand your point of view a bit better.

Hi @PeterB,

If you’re using a new Alarm Panel Pro v1.9, it came pre-loaded with our new firmware platform (built with ESPHome). Unfortunately, I haven’t built the Hubitat integration yet for the Alarm Panel family using this new firmware, but it’s next up on my priority list.

If you want to use the Konnected Pro with Hubitat now, you’ll have to re-flash it with our OG firmware at install.konnected.io.

The new integration will be better in a lot of ways. Sorry for the wait.

Thanks for the reply, Nate. I am not using the Pro version of Konnected. I am using version 2.3.9.160 of Hubitat, which comes with built-in Wi-Fi, as such, I have abandoned the idea of connecting Hubitat via Ethernet. With Wi-Fi, the discovery of Hubitat/Konnecgted discover works just fine. It was only problematic w/Ethernet.

Likely a networking issue then. You may have a configuration setting on your router that bridges discovery protocols across the wired and wireless LAN.

Thanks, Nate. Perhaps you could advise. I have a very simple (out-of-the-box) home network with only a single wifi/router. Here is a diagram of the network;

Netgear documentation states:
Cable Your Modem Router to a Router and Use Bridge Mode
If you want to cable the modem router to a router, then you must log in to the modem and change its Router MOde setting. Changing this setting prevents certain network conflicts that can occur when two devices on the same network perform routing functions such as network address translation (NAT) and DHCP. This setting turns the modem router into a bridged modem.

Here is the current setting:

Any thoughts appreciated.

What I found was that I needed to have the Hubitat device AND my Konnected boards on Wi-Fi for discovery to work. Having Hubitat connected to my router via an ethernet cable and the Konnected boards connected vai Wi-Fi simply did not work. Bottom line, got them talking.
