Bricked on Initial Configuration - SOLVED

I just got the alarm panel. Spent the day installing. Downloaded the app and configured and launched the firmware update, which bricked the device. It will not come online and it will not update via USB. Super upset at this point as I’ve already sunk hours and the day is running short for me to complete this job.

What now?

Followed the reset procedure listed by konnected and it did not reset the device. Jump 1 and 2 zones didn’t produce a rapidly flashing blue led.

I’m livid at this point.

It’s probably not bricked. I’ve never seen a firmware update that will “brick” the device. I understand that you’re upset, but help us help you by providing some details and context.

What product are you using? 6-zone Alarm Panel or Alarm Panel Pro?

What is the blue light on the device doing? On solid, blinking or off?

What happens when you try to re-flash it? Or press the reboot button?

Alarm Panel Pro, 12 zones.
The blue light is flashing at a steady pace as it has from the first boot.

When I press the reboot button, it appears to reboot. But nothing changes it is still inaccessible from USB (ESP Web), the Konnected app and not on the IP Network.

It appears to be broadcasting a hotspot I can connect to, but can do nothing with it.

I cannot flash it, because it fails to uplaod. I can connect to it, via install.konnected.io (ESP Web Tools), but upon clicking Install it spins on preparing firmware for a long time and fails with a generic message.

It’s no longer getting an IP address. Previously all zones were working and fine. I used the Konnected app to configure the API port, the zone names. It built the firmware (remotely) and notified me it was ready. I clicked the install button. It failed saying it couldn’t validate the version had been updated.

When I inspected the device, the NIC was dark, the blue light was still flashing it’s steady one second flash and it’s inaccessible from any method.

I did hear from your support team. But last contact was almost an hour ago.

EDIT: I’ve heard back from them now, since posting this. But no instructions on how to recover at this point.

EDIT 2:
Making headway with your support team.

EDIT 3:
Thanks to the support team who stuck with me despite my irritation. They gave me instructions I followed to connect to the hotspot and discover that the firmware I flashed was set to wifi. I was able to whitelist the new MAC and get the firmware updated to reflect the wired version. It’s now back up on the network and accessible.

Pardon my irritation. This appears to be my fault for not paying closer attention to that particular setting while flashing, compounded by not being able to flash it via USB. The USB part is still a mystery however.

Yeah you’re not the first to have this problem. I’m thinking about how to make that more clear in the app when configuring. One nuance of the new firmware is that only WiFi or Ethernet can be enabled at any given time. If you enable WiFi, Ethernet will not work and that has tripped a few people up.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for the feedback.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you run into anything else.
