I’m thinking of installing a BlaQ on my Chamberlain. The opener has a 12v backup battery, so it works with power out. Wondering if the wall switch will still work with power out once I install the BlaQ (power would be out to the BlaQ).
Yes, the wall button should still work if the opener has a battery backup. The wall buttons are powered by the garage opener so they will share the same backup power.
You actually may be able to power the GDO blaQ with the backup battery as well! I was talking to an installer the other day and they’ve said that they would tap into the 12V from the opener’s backup battery to power the GDO blaQ. In theory it should work! The GDO blaQ accepts DC voltage from 5V - 24V.
