Hey Everyone,
I’ve just come across this product in my search to make my Bosch alarm actually usable. At the moment we never arm it as it’s such a pain in the butt when it goes off and the zoning was done terribly in that it’s very difficult to use it at night without the fear of tripping it. When it goes of the siren is so loud it basically disables everyone in the house!!
My question - I’m thinking of just completely removing the whole Bosch alarm and starting from scratch with Konnected using the cabling - it’s basically new. Picture attached - I’m fairly technical but wondering if it’s just a case of turning off the power and taking out everything back to the cabling, then installing the Konnected into the existing housing? All the zones are labelled..
Appreciate any input in the best way to approach this. I have an existing Home Assistant setup I’ll be integrating this into.
Yes, you’re on the right track! The hardest part is identifying which wire goes to which sensor – but if yours are labeled then you got lucky. The rest is pretty straightforward.
You can split out some zones for more granular visibility into individual sensors if you want.
Home Assistant is great for automating arming and disarming and alerting. You’ll have fun with it.
Nickkk,
I replaced my old alarm panel board with a Konnected Pro back in 2021. I first ran the old hardware in parallel with the KP using the “Konnected Alarm Panel Interface Module”.
This gave me a chance to set my Hubitat up with the KP without removing the old boards.
I quickly stopped using the old hardware and depended on the Hubitat and Konnected. It was like the old hardware wasn’t there.
I was concerned about WiFi signal in/out of the metal enclosure. After I routed my network to the panel I removed old hardware entirely and installed the KP in the box.
I now run both Hubitat and Home Assistant together.
I was never without a functioning alarm.
