Struggling to flash a 6 Zone Alarm Panel v2.2

I’m trying to reflash my 6 Zone Alarm Panel v2.2 with the new ESPHome based firmware so I can continue to use it with Home Assistant (I know, I know, I’m very late to this party)

My board does not have a micro USB connector, just an 8 pin header.

I think I should be able to use an FTDI cable to do this.

Can someone confirm that? And confirm the pinouts on the header (I think I have them correclty as 3v,GND|Tx,Rx|x,x|x,x| if the board is held vertically the power barrel at the top.

Then I need to know the specific gyrations to get the board into “flash” mode. I’ve tried holding the boot (next to the header) and Reset (bottom of board in this orientation) buttons while connecting but the flashing tool can connect to my FTDI but can’t initialize the board.

It’s possible that I need to jumper some pins too? But now the combinatorics are getting big and I’m hoping someone with direct experience can provide some help.

Thank you for any help you can provide

The 8-pin header does not expose the Tx and Rx pins, unfortunately.

There should be USB port on the top left edge of the board. If it has broken off, then unfortunately it will be very difficult to re-flash. If that’s the case, DM me and I may be able to find another 6-zone board that I can sell you at clearance price. These were discontinued a while ago, but we do have some extra floating around from returns and things like that.
