Security+1.0 vs. Security+2.0

@nate - Since the release of the ‘security+1.0 with smart panel’ option for the GDO blaQ security protocol my Chamberlain RJ020 openers have been stable and the random opening closing has stopped. So good job there.

However, since my opener is a security+2.0 opener I am wondering if there are plans to release a ‘security+2.0 with smart panel’ option?

I have to admit that I am not very knowledgeable in the differences between security+1.0 and security+2.0 technology. I am concerned that forcing the security+1.0 option over the security+2.0 option is leaving myself open to a higher risk of code hacking? Or does it matter in this case?

Thanks,
SManCan

Hi @SManCan,

Glad to hear that yours is working perfectly now!

All Security+2.0 openers are “smart panels” so no, there will never be a separate option for Security+2.0 with smart panel. However, your RJO20 is not truly a Security+2.0 opener. My understanding of that model is that it’s kinda a weird hybrid between Security+1.0 and 2.0. I think maybe the wireless remotes use a Security+2.0 wireless pairing protocol, but the wired (serial) comms between the opener and the wall buttons speak Security+1.0 protocol.

The way to identify a true Security+2.0 opener is by the round yellow learn button on the back of it near the wiring terminals:

Your RJO20 looks like this with a square yellow learn button, which we assume indicates some odd hybrid between the two protocols:

@nate - OK thanks for the reply.
