Konnected App update 1.7.0 — firmware updates, Cloud Integrations, and a lot of cleanup
It’s been a while since the last app release, and this one is a big catch-up. Version 1.7.0 is heading out to the App Store and Google Play now, and it should land on the app stores within a few days.
Device firmware updates should behave a lot better now. This is the one I most wanted to fix. A lot of you have run an update, watched it finish and then say “unable to determine if the update was successful” in the app. The update was usually fine — the app just wasn’t listening the right way. It now confirms an update much more reliably and communicates better status during the firmware update process.
Cloud Integrations menu SmartThings, Alexa, Google Home and Noonlight now live together in one place in the menu, instead of Noonlight sitting off on its own. You can see what’s connected to your Konnected Cloud account and jump straight into each platform’s app to link or unlink.
Google Home is coming soon! I added a place to set a PIN for Google Home, to support our cloud integration and certification by Google. If you use Google to open a garage door or disarm your panel, it asks for a PIN first. Unlike Alexa, this isn’t set in the Google Home app, so I made a place for it in our app.
Everything else. A long list of smaller fixes: settings screens that got confused when you had two devices open, a refresh button that didn’t refresh on Android, a couple of screens that could go blank on you, and a lot of small layout and wording problems. Individually minor, collectively the difference between the app feeling solid and feeling fussy.
Under the hood we also spent real time on testing and build automation. That part you’ll never see, but it’s the reason the gap between this release and the next one should be a lot shorter than the gap before this one.
