I am converting my old alarm keypad to Amazon Echo hub. I placed a 12V to USB-C (5V) voltage converter to the wiring. When I plug the Amazon hub, I receive error msg for insufficient power. The plug will power iPhone and iPad but no luck with the Amazon echo Hub. It is going to its own power supply. The amazon echo hub requires that the power supply comply with USB PD protocol and support both 5V/2.4A and 9V/3A ratings. What do I have to do to make it work with the existing wiring?
Our 12V to 5V USB Type-C converters are not USB PD. They only deliver 5V at a max of 3A.
VXL - Did you solve your power issue with the Amazon Echo hub? I found success running power over the existing wires to my previously wired keypad. I purchased a pair of USB wired connectors on Amazon. I wired a female usb connector in my alarm panel box, and then another USB connector on the wires that originally plugged in to my old wired keypad. This allowed me to plug in the Amazon Echo hub power brick in my alarm panel box, and then plug in the Amazon Echo Hub at the old keypad location.
We do have a new USB-PD power converter available now!
